Imarda, the latest venture from ex-Endace man Selwyn Pellett, has been named the NZ Police's preferred GPS vehicle tracking provider.

The Auckland-based company refused to put a value on the contract, which has the potential to cover more than 3000 police vehicles.

Police evaluated 15 telematics providers before settling on Imarda, the company says.

Imarda is best known for a $12 million deal with FedEx (although it has never confirmed details of its major US freight client).
