Countdown has added 44 new jobs as part of the 70-strong team that is running its latest new store at Hauraki Corner on Lake Rd, Takapuna.
Countdown replaced New World as the building’s tenant and the store has been redesigned in a format that includes wider aisles and energy efficient fittings and equipment. It will also offer the Click & Collect service, where customers can order their groceries online and pick them up on arrival.
Countdown managing director Dave Chambers says the store will support local job creation and career development.
“We’re a proud employer of more than 6000 people in Auckland and it’s great to provide so many opportunities for new team to join our business, and start their careers in retail with us,” he says.
The store manager is Andre Ciseau. The entrance features tiles with the hand prints of 200 pupils of Hauraki Primary School.
Meanwhile, Countdown has reopened its store at Orewa, north of Auckland. Manager Nicky Turner says the new supermarket, built on the same site as the previous one on Moenui Ave, has almost doubled in size.
Ms Turner, who previously managed the store in 2012-13 and has been with the company for 30 years, has employed 84 people, 12 from the previous store and 67 who are new to the Countdown business.”
Like Hauraki Corner, the store features the new Countdown format and the Click & Collect service (starting in January). It also has an expanded layout for clothing and kitchenware merchandise, a full-service bakery baking fresh daily, service deli and seafood department.
