TomTom has updated its iPhone and iPad app to support Facebook events and places.

A rep for the sat-nav compay says, “This new app will make navigation a more socially integrated experience. For example, if your friends have checked into a restaurant on Facebook, you can now drive straight there because the app can navigate to the venue. Or, if you want to find a great new place to eat, you can search thousands of Facebook places and find them in just a tap.”

Additionally, drivers can use the app to share their destination and arrival time on Twitter, Facebook, by email and by SMS text.

TomTom's iPhone and iPad app costs $94.99. The Facebook/Twitter upgrade announced today is free for existing users.
