Waterloo Business Park has expanded its team to include assistant development manager, Joel Webber. Based on site in Christchurch, Joel will be the primary contact for commercial and industrial real estate agents as the development prepares to launch its final remaining stages.

Joel brings with him over 15 years of local and international commercial property experience. He spent the past five years involved in the delivery of the Middle East’s first affordable housing PPP (Public Private Partnership) in the Kingdom of Bahrain as senior manager for Naseej. Prior to his role at Naseej, Joel managed Knight Frank’s commercial valuation and consultancy business, also in Bahrain.

Joel returned from overseas to his hometown of Christchurch late last year for family reasons. He was attracted by Waterloo Park’s commitment to creating a purpose built environment focused on the people who work there, designed to make work life balance more enjoyable and increasingly productive.

“I was really attracted by the fact that Waterloo Park was doing something out of the box when it came to industrial development and felt it has a good progressive philosophy.  When I first visited the site I was encouraged by the amount of operational buildings already there and also the amount of construction activity on site. It was clear the project had a very positive momentum moving forwards,” said Joel. “Waterloo is doing things that are changing the way an industrial park looks and feels like in Christchurch, comparable to the level of quality developments I’ve seen overseas. I also liked the idea of the retention and redevelopment of the original Victorian industrial buildings at the core of the development which will really contribute to Waterloo’s overall character and point of difference when it’s completed.”

Waterloo Business Park has been an industrial site since 1869 and the new 114-hectare landholding has been innovatively planned as one community, housing businesses from a broad range of sectors and scale. The 102 lots will be made available to market in six stages, with two already delivered, and range in size from 2,500 sqm to seven hectares.
