Mr Yan told the police they should look for “actual crimes” before being advised to shut up by his lawyer.
The NZ Police say William Yan shouldn’t be released funds as he has plenty of “friends” who he can get money from.
The investor, who is also known as Bill Liu, has applied for living expenses because about $40 million of his assets were frozen following an August police raid on his home.
