This is a supplied media release.

Yellow has appointed Bruce Pilbrow as its chief marketing officer.

Mr Pilbrow joins the company from international humanitarian organisation World Vision, where he served as general manager, marketing and engagement. He has held various marketing roles, owned and led businesses and directed organisations, including nine years with The Parenting Place.

Mr Pilbrow attributes his career path to an appetite for transformative work, saying, “I’ve always been attracted to mission-driven roles that allow me to make a meaningful impact on a business, its team, and its community or industry. For me, taking on the CMO role at Yellow is an exciting challenge. Here we have a business that everyone knows and has engaged with, and like many other media businesses, is on a transformation journey.

“There is huge and understated value in the work that Yellow is doing to support New Zealand’s SMEs to embrace and leverage digital media. We have the opportunity to really help connect people with their local businesses, community organisations and with each other. Connected communities are prosperous communities, and that is great for our economy.”

Yellow chief executive Darren Linton says “Bruce is a real asset to our team. He has lived and breathed organisational and positive change for his entire career. He gets where Yellow is going, and believes in our vision of making New Zealand the most connected country in the world. His leadership and enthusiasm will help our team in our mission to help every business thrive.”

Mr Pilbrow’s career of leadership and transformation spans 27 years. He is an experienced speaker, motivator, marketer and director. He is currently chairman of NFP youth organisation, Zeal; is a former partner and managing director of Film Construction; and held the deputy chief commissioner role with the Families Commission for two years.
